This
week the Church calls us to celebrate and pray for an increase of vocations to
consecrated life within the Church. As a seminarian, I am able to be studying
for the Diocese of Scranton because of the constant spiritual support of
faith-filled people across the globe. God’s people have a right to loving
shepherds who care for them and guide them along their own vocation in marriage
or the single life. It is quite fitting that we call to mind the need for vocations
at this time of the year, when the Church prepares to celebrate the Feast of
Christ the King, Lord of all vocations. This feast draws our minds to the
supernatural element of the consecrated life, for as St. Paul writes, “It is no
longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” This week in preparation for
that day, let us pray for men to heroically answer the call to the priesthood
and become holy vessels of the True High Priest, Christ Jesus.
